> The fifth-generation BYD plug-in hybrid system has a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engine with 74 kW (99 hp) that is paired with a 120 kW (161 hp) electric motor... Battery only range is about 80 km (50 mi).

Regarding the second model type

> Those numbers would probably be about a third lower in the EPA rating scheme, but that’s irrelevant since this car is never coming to the US.

Why they'd name it 99% the same as the existing model?

Now there is "BYD SEAL U DM-i" and "BYD Seal 6 DM-1", with seemingly vastly different performance (double the range + half the price?)

None the less, looks like another interesting and competitive model. I'm currently looking at replacing a Audio A3 Sportback (diesel) with hybrid or electric, and I would be lying if I said BYD doesn't looks almost just right for this...

    Different culture.

How about Video B4 Stereofront (hybrid)? /jk

Right! Should have chosen a simple one-word product name scheme, using everyday substantives, just like the current techbro scene.
